Type AB × Type ABBlood type compatibility
Two observers watching the same room. Understanding comes easily; momentum does not.
For entertainment only. Blood type compatibility (ketsueki-gata aishō) is a popular Japanese cultural belief and is not supported by science. Please don’t use it to make real relationship decisions.
What two Type ABs recognise in each other
Each is met by the thing they usually have to explain — the dual mode, the retreat, the sudden warmth after a fortnight of nothing. Neither takes the other's distance personally, because both do it. Conversation skips several stages and arrives somewhere unusually honest, unusually fast.
What works
Mutual intelligibility. No performance is required, no schedule of affection, no interpretation of silences. Both are comfortable with a small, deliberate circle, and both would rather one good conversation a month than daily maintenance. The understanding is real and rare.
Where it breaks
There's no friction, and friction is what makes people move. Neither pushes; neither insists; neither creates the small demand that would pull the other into the day. The relationship can be genuinely deep and still slowly cool — not from conflict, but from two people politely giving each other unlimited space.
By situation
- Dating — Rare, precise, and very calm. The failure mode is drift, not damage.
- At work — Superb analysis, no forward motion. Needs a Type O nearby to make anything happen.
- As friends — Ideal. Infrequent contact, total comprehension, no maintenance debt.
One thing that helps
Put something on the calendar that recurs. You will not generate it spontaneously, and that's fine — build it in.
