Why this site exists

In Japan, asking someone’s blood type is roughly as normal as asking their star sign in the English-speaking world. It shows up in profiles, in dating apps, in the character sheets for TV dramas — and outside Japan almost nobody has heard of it. This site is a friendly English-language introduction: a 10-question quiz, four short profiles, and a compatibility chart, written for readers who are curious about the idea rather than trying to justify it.

How the profiles were written

Every character sketch, quiz option, and compatibility note on this site is written from scratch in plain English. Nothing is machine-translated from a Japanese source or copied from another blood-type site. The tone is deliberately warm and a little tongue-in-cheek — closer to a magazine horoscope column than to a psychology textbook.

The four archetypes are the ones most Japanese pop-culture sources agree on: Type A as the perfectionist, Type B as the free spirit, Type O as the natural leader, Type AB as the rare thinker. Where we’ve had to choose between competing readings, we picked the one that’s most commonly repeated and least likely to hurt anyone.

Why we keep saying “not supported by science”

Because it’s true, and because failing to say so is the reason ketsueki-gata occasionally causes real damage. In Japan the term bura-hara (blood-type harassment) describes the pattern of people using blood type to reject job applicants, break up with partners, or write off children. That’s not what this site is for.
